Vintage Zuni Sterling Silver Two-Sided Bear Pendant Necklace

This vintage Zuni-made bear pendant is crafted in sterling silver and features a finely executed two-sided design, a hallmark of Zuni lapidary tradition. One side displays a polished turquoise bear with natural matrix, accented by a graduated line of sterling dot inlay along the back and a small jet dot eye.

The reverse side features a smooth mother of pearl bear, carefully shaped to mirror the silhouette of the turquoise side. The contrast between the vibrant turquoise and the luminous mother of pearl highlights the precision and balance typical of Zuni stonework. The pendant is finished with a clean sterling silver bezel edge and bail, allowing the focus to remain on the stone materials rather than heavy silver ornamentation.

Two-sided animal pendants such as this are strongly associated with Zuni artisans and were commonly produced in the late 20th century, often unsigned. The bear motif is traditionally associated with strength, protection, and guidance.
